Crime Watch


Petty theft Eleven parking permits or proxy
cards and about $3,392 in wallets or cellular phones were stolen in
the past four weeks. Someone stole wheels and a bicycle seat worth
a total of $75 from the Neuropsychiatric Institute July 2. An
office desk, video camera, compact disk and watch worth a total of
$782 were stolen from various locations on campus in June. Several
car break-ins in the past period incurred a total loss of $514.

Grand theft A black 1998 Dodge Kingcab and a
red 1986 Chevy Nova were reported lost or stolen from lots 1 and 2
in July. Three laptop computers worth a total of $10,000 were
stolen from various locations on campus at the end of June. Someone
stole a bag worth $660 from Drake Stadium June 30. Also, a $600
chair was stolen from Royce Hall between June 27 and 29. Someone
entered a building on the 400 block of Midvale Avenue and stole
$3,960 in various items between June 17 and 20. A stereo and camera
worth a total of $500 were stolen from a 1993 Toyota Corolla June
19.

Miscellaneous Police arrested a man July 11 for
using fake meal tickets at the Cooperage in Ackerman Union. That
same day, a man was seen allegedly peeping into the restroom of the
Men’s Gym locker room. Someone accessed a woman’s ATM
account without her permission and withdrew $260 July 6. She
suspects the culprit was a store salesman, according to police. A
man between the age of 60 to 70 appeared disoriented and reportedly
told someone he “liked to watch girls” before fleeing
towards the soccer field in a police report June 29. A man who had
attempted to kill another person threatened to find his victim at
the Center for Health Sciences to “complete the
homicide,” according to a June 28 report. A man attempted to
cut his victim with a box cutter on the 500 block of Glenrock
Avenue on June 22. A house manager attempted to remove a door from
an apartment building on the 500 block of Landfair Avenue on June
19 after the landlord and tenant had gotten into a dispute. Police
received the report as an “attempted burglary.”
