Skulls are rocking in the New Year on Dec. 30 and 31 at the
Glasshouse in Pomona. Tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m. G. Love
and the Special Sauce will perform at the Hollywood Palladium with
Nikka Costa on Nov. 17. Tickets go on sale this Saturday. The
Strokes are performing tonight at the Palace in Hollywood. Tickets
can be purchased illegally from scalpers. Tantric will be at the
House of Blues, the club with the best sound quality in Hollywood,
on Friday. Bob Dylan is playing the Staples Center on Friday, Oct.
19. Lifehouse will be at the El Rey Theatre on Friday and Saturday.
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion is performing Saturday night at the
Palace. Tickets are on sale now. Cake will be going the distance at
the Mayan Theatre on Sunday. Icelandic princess Bjork will be at
the Dorthy Chandler Pavilion on Monday, Oct. 22. Brit-rockers
Travis will brit-rock at the Universal Amphitheatre on Tuesday,
Oct. 23. Tenacious D brings its mix of sick humor and guitars to
the Wiltern Theatre on Wilshire Boulevard on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Movies Opening this Friday is another chapter
in the Jack the Ripper saga titled “From Hell.” Johnny
Depp plays the detective in search of the demonic villain. Drew
Barrymore stars in “Riding in Cars With Boys,” a film
about a young girl’s coming of age. “Waking
Life,” a film being previewed tonight at James Bridges
theater, is a unique animated film. The film, directed by Richard
Linklater (“Dazed and Confused” and
“Slacker”), allows each animator to draw in his or her
own style, creating a final product that is stylistically
inconsistent.
Art The City of Beverly Hills is holding
it’s biannual “Affaire in the Gardens” art show
Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Beverly Gardens
Park. The show is free and exhibits more than 240 artists. See

William Shakespeare’s “The Historie of King Henry IV,
