Film

Campus Events is presenting a sneak peek of “The Scorpion
King,” showing tonight at 7 p.m. in Ackerman Grand
Ballroom.

Tickets for the sneak can be picked up at 319 Kerckhoff Hall.
Also showing will be “Black Hawk Down,” tonight at 9:30
p.m. and Friday evening at 7 and 9:30 p.m.

The sneak preview of “Life or Something Like It”
will be screened Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Ackerman Grand Ballroom as
well. Tickets can be picked up at the Campus Events office in
Kerckhoff Hall 319.

There will be a casting call for “American Idol,” a
new television show that will be airing on FOX. The show deals with
“music performers looking for their big break” and is
something like “Making the Band.” It will take place at
the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles and begins at 8 a.m. For more

John Woo will be at the Egyptian Theatre for a retrospective of
his work this Friday and Saturday. Showing will be films such as
“The Killer” on Friday and “Hard Boiled” on

The hip hop trio Anti-Pop Consortium is playing the Knitting

Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash is. The group is bringing its show to

This Sunday The Hilliard Ensemble is playing at Schoenberg Hall

Literature

Author Estelle Freedman will read and discuss “NO TURNING
BACK: The History of Feminism and the Future of Women,” at
the Midnight Special Bookstore & Cultural Center in Santa

Tickets to the author panel discussions for the annual Festival
of Books, held on the UCLA campus, will be made available this
Sunday at Ticketmaster locations throughout Southern California.
Tickets are free, with no service charge in the interest of
promoting literacy. Limited tickets will also be available at the

Theater

“Tape” is playing at The Coast Playhouse in West
Hollywood until May 11. There are shows Wednesday through Saturday

“Toska” plays at the Lee Strasberg Creative Center

Art

Architect Wolf Prix, will give the Masters of Architecture
Lecture in the popular LACMA series this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in
the Leo S. Bing Theater at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Tickets are $10 for LACMA members and $5 for students with a valid

Gita Khashabi presents an exhibit called “Chadoor

FOOD

Free Jamba Juice smoothies are offered tomorrow from 6:30 to 10
a.m. at the Village location on Lindbrook. In an effort to help
