Bozeman to miss rest of season

Sophomore point guard Cedric Bozeman will miss the remainder of
the 2002-2003 season and undergo surgery on his right shoulder at
the conclusion of winter quarter, UCLA basketball head coach Steve
Lavin announced in a press release Monday.

Bozeman played his last game on Feb. 15 at Arizona State,
starting as point guard and recording seven points and three
assists in an 85-69 Bruin loss. In that game, he aggravated a
shoulder injury received Feb. 5 in a loss at USC.

Based on symptoms, examinations and medical testing, Bozeman has
been diagnosed with instability in his right shoulder, according to
the release.

Bozeman will finish the 2002-2003 season with 7.3 points (sixth
on the team) and 3.2 assists (second) per game .

Senior Ray Young has started at point guard in place of Bozeman,
averaging 17 points per game in four starts.

A torn meniscus, followed by arthroscopic surgery to repair the
injury, sidelined Bozeman for seven games his freshman season.

Andy Katz on ESPN.com reported as early as Feb. 21 that Bozeman
might sit out the remainder of the season.
