Calendar: Theater&Arts

L.A. Decorative Arts Fair
Santa Monica Civic Auditorium
Nov. 7-9

You don’t have to watch every episode of “Queer Eye
for the Straight Guy” to learn about the many wonders of
interior design. More than 60 international dealers representing
art, antique and design will be on hand to showcase their majolica
(glazed ceramic) tureens, Quimper pottery and Victorian figurative
napkin rings. Private collectors, homeowners and holiday shoppers
rejoice. Tickets are $10. For more information, call (310) 455-2886
or visit www.caskeylees.com.

“The Shaggs”
[Inside] the Ford
Opens Nov. 7

The “true” story of one of the worst bands in rock
‘n’ roll history, this Joy Gregory production about
’70s girl group The Shaggs was inspired by an article in The
New Yorker by Susan Orlean. The Wiggin sisters Dot (guitar,
vocals), Betty (guitar, vocals) and Helen (drums) were tagged by
Frank Zappa as stars in the making, but the girls crashed and
burned. Even Spinal Tap wasn’t this bad. Tickets are $18 for
students. For more information, call (323) 461-3673.

Suzanne Farrell Ballet
Royce Hall
Nov. 7-8, 8 p.m.

Ballerinas are alive and well as evident by Farrell’s
success in the dance world. She joined George Balanchine’s
New York City Ballet in 1961 and became his most prominent muse.
Ignore the tutus and concentrate on the deft athleticism. Tickets
are $30-$55. For more information, call (310) 825-2101 or visit
www.uclalive.org.
