“¢bull; In the editorial “Mascot clean-up a good move by
NCAA” (Viewpoint, Aug. 8), San Diego State University
discontinued its “Aztec ambassador” mascot. In 2004,
SDSU introduced the “Aztec warrior” as its mascot,
which is currently in use.
“¢bull; In “Bruins fare well in championship heat”
(Sports, Aug. 8), in the graphic “Treading Water?”, the
listed swimming times were preliminary heat times. Chiemi Yamamoto
finished 12th and Katie Arnold finished 16th overall. The swimmer
in the photo is Arnold.
“¢bull; In “A somber anniversary” (News, Aug. 8),
the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki on Aug. 9, 1945. Also,
copper and silver should have been identified as conductors.
