Musicians bond through playing son jarocho

Jueves Jarocho is a collection of musicians from a variety of backgrounds who gather to create music together. The group plays son jarocho music, a form of traditional Mexican music, and accompanies a percussive dance class here on campus. Ethnomusicology graduate student Alexandro Hernandez enjoys that the group plays “without that pressure of performances, playing just for the sake of getting together with friends; it’s essentially what the fandango is about.”
