A total of 739 vehicles are currently trapped in Parking Structures 4 and 7 because of flooding, based on reports to UCLA. The number may change as more people report their cars.

About 500 cars were submerged to varying degrees, said UCLA spokesman Tod Tamberg.

Of the trapped cars, 325 are submerged on the lower levels and 414 are on the upper levels of the parking structures, which are less flooded, according to an email from Nurit Katz, chief sustainability officer for UCLA Facilities Management.

Here is a breakdown of affiliation to the trapped vehicles:

Staff: 293 cars

Students: 388 cars

Faculty: 17 cars

Visitors and members of UCLA community: 41 cars
