Students can talk with candidates running for undergraduate student government positions about their platforms and stances on campus Friday night.
The Meet the Candidates event, which aims to give students a chance to interact with their potential student leaders, will be held in rooms A and B in Bradley International Hall. Students can ask questions to fall special election candidates in an informal setting.
The goal for the event is for students to get to know the candidates and their platforms, said Shagun Kabra, Undergraduate Students Association Council Election Board chair.
“(Students) can address questions directly to the candidates, ask any questions they want to. It’s a lot more intimate if people have the choice,” Kabra said. “My main goal with Meet the Candidates is to give a voice to people who aren’t involved (with USAC or student groups) and want to know more about the candidates.”
All of the five candidates running for the transfer student representative and general representative 2 seats are expected to be at the event.
Students who attend can also learn more about the two referendums and the constitutional amendment on the ballot. Kabra said he does not know whether the representatives for the referendums will make an appearance, but he can answer logistical questions about the ballot measures if they do not attend.
Students can vote online in the special election from Oct. 21-23, during third week.
