UCLA officials and David Geffen dedicated Geffen Hall on Thursday afternoon at an event attended by 200 medical students, faculty and guests. Geffen, an entertainment executive and philanthropist, donated $200 million to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and created a $100 million scholarship fund for incoming medical students. He has also gifted $100 million to establish Geffen Academy, a middle and high school projected to open fall 2017. Geffen Hall houses teaching labs, exam rooms, study spaces and a lecture auditorium. The new home of medical education, named in recognition of Geffen’s generosity and impact on the medical school, aims to promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
