A man suspected of sexual assault was taken into custody outside UCLA Medical Plaza on Thursday evening.

The suspect, originally from Boston, drove a dark Lincoln SUV through the 405 Freeway and along surface streets in Inglewood. The suspect was driving at moderate speed and obeying stop signs, according to ABC7 Eyewitness News.

Following a 90-minute car chase, the man – who is wanted for robbery and rape – drove over a spike strip in Westwood, which left at least one tire flat, ABC7 said. He continued to drive through Westwood, ABC7 said, before surrendering to LAPD in the Medical Plaza around 5:30 p.m.

Bruins received a BruinAlert text at 5:18 p.m. warning people to avoid the Medical Plaza area. According to another BruinAlert, emergency crews departed, and the area was deemed all clear at 5:49 p.m.

LAPD was not able to give out any information regarding the incident at the time of this story.
