She’s back.
UCLA gymnastics announced the return of Jordan Chiles to the program as a student coach via Instagram on Tuesday. Chiles competed for UCLA gymnastics for four seasons, having graduated this past summer.
In her final collegiate season, Chiles earned eight perfect 10s – six on floor, one on bars and one on vault. She earned 10s across five consecutive weeks en route to setting the record for most Big Ten Gymnast of the Week distinctions in a single season, doing so 10 times.
During her Bruin career, Chiles earned 131 individual victories. As the only gymnast to finish the 2026 season ranked in the top five for the all-around and all four events, she became the second Bruin ever to receive First-Team All-American honors in all five areas.
Chiles also won her second career NCAA floor title in April, bringing her total to four. She also won four titles at the Big Ten Championships, tying the previous record. At the end of the season, she was awarded the AAI award for the best senior gymnast in the nation.
The Houston, Texas, local helped lead the Bruins to back-to-back Big Ten regular-season and tournament championships in UCLA’s first two years since leaving the Pac-12.
But her career stretches far beyond collegiate athletics.
A two-time Olympic medalist, Chiles began representing the U.S. at 13 years old as an elite national member. She made her Olympic debut in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she helped the team win silver.
“Being in Pauley as a gymnast was chapter one,” Chiles said on the Sept. 1 Instagram post. “Now, I get to start a new chapter as coach Jo.”
