Most frontmen who break away from their Grammy-nominated bands seem to lose inspiration; Brandon Flowers, on the other hand, continues to improve his solo career with his new album, “The Desired Effect.” The album was recorded by Battle Born studios, mixed by Alan Moulder and produced by Flowers and Ariel Rechtshaid, who has produced songs for other popular indie artists such as Vampire Weekend. The oppression and hardship that women endure in society, Zainab Khan said, is the largest human rights violation that is happening in our world. Three years ago, Khan, a licensed clinical therapist and global activist for women’s rights, came together with eight like-minded women to create the film “Honor Diaries,” a conversation about the role of women in Muslim-majority societies.
