National Student Data Corps creates accessible data science community for students

In the National Student Data Corps at UCLA, students aim to create an inclusive community for students exploring data science. NSDC was created in 2022 when one of its founders noticed a large number of students were unable to get into data science organizations, said Milla Nielsen, a fourth-year statistics and data science student and co-president of NSDC. UCLA faculty discuss outcome, potential consequences of presidential election

UCLA faculty expressed mixed reactions to the outcome of the 2024 presidential election and predictions for the incoming administration. Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump defeated Democratic nominee and sitting Vice President Kamala Harris with 312 electoral votes to 226, winning close races in seven key battleground states and the popular vote. Olympian Yusra Mardini shares refugee journey at UCLA screening of ‘The Swimmers’

Around 60 students attended a screening of “The Swimmers” with the movie’s subject and Olympian Yusra Mardini on Nov. 15. UCLA’s Southwest Asian/North African Health Alliance, Students Organize for Syria and the Syrian American Medical Society hosted the event, which included the opportunity to ask Mardini questions, in Moore Hall. Heart of the Brain raises $1.5 million for brain cancer awareness in annual walk

UCLA physicians, donors and patients gathered in Dickinson Court on Nov. 3 for an annual brain cancer awareness and fundraising walk. Heart of the Brain – a brain cancer advocacy and fundraising organization – hosted the walk, raising $1.5 million this year for research and clinical trials, according to their website. Read more...
