UCPD arrests man on several charges at Weyburn Terrace Apartments

University police arrested a 43-year-old man at UCLA Weyburn Terrace Apartments on Nov. 23 on several charges, according to a Tuesday UCPD press release. Charles Branch, a Los Angeles resident not affiliated with UCLA, was charged with burglary, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia and a probation violation, according to the press release. UC whistleblower hotline leads to limited enforcement of COVID-19 protocols at UCLA

Some students are concerned about how their peers are handling the COVID-19 pandemic and think UCLA could do more to enforce COVID-19 guidelines. UCLA’s outline of student conduct and policies for COVID-19 gives regulations for large gatherings, and states that students can face academic consequences or exclusion from UCLA housing for violating UCLA’s policies. Several Academic Affairs Commission members receive scholarship from own office

Several undergraduate student government staffers received money from a scholarship run by their own office, including staffers who helped decide who receives scholarship money. At least 11 Undergraduate Students Association Council Academic Affairs Commission staffers received money from a textbook scholarship their office administers, Books for Bruins, said Commissioner of Academic Affairs Breeze Velazquez in an emailed statement.
