UCLA received an emergency authorization from the Food and Drug Administration last week to conduct a fast and cheap COVID-19 test. The new test, called SwabSeq, can return results in 12 to 24 hours, said Sri Kosuri, an associate chemistry and biochemistry professor who helped develop the technology. Read more...

The UCLA Department of Film, Television and Digital Media is suspending applications to its graduate degree programs to reevaluate the structure of its graduate programs. The Department of Film, Television and Digital Media, a department in the School of Theater, Film and Television, will not accept applications to its graduate programs for fall 2021 to review its programs and build a curriculum that better integrates its department programs, said interim department chair Steve Anderson in an emailed statement.
