UCLA website hacked, no student information or sensitive data affected

The UCLA Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences website was affected by a hack that converted websites into cryptocurrency mining platforms, the university confirmed Wednesday. Troy Mursch, a security researcher, said in his updated blog post Monday that UCLA’s Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences website was affected by a cryptojacking campaign that targeted vulnerable Drupal websites. Fulbright-Hays awardees to attend language program in Indonesia

Student group raises awareness for environmental racism with forum

CAPS creates new programs using funds from 2016 referendum

UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services has created new programs to interact with and support students using funds from increased student fees. CAPS is using funding from the #UCLAwellness Initiative Referendum to operate the CAPS Student Advisory Board, to run the International Student Support Program and to hire a community liaison who will help students access mental health resources outside CAPS, said Nicole Green, executive director of CAPS. Royal Society of Chemistry honors UCLA professor with centenary prize

A UCLA professor recently received an award for his work in chemistry. Richard Kaner, a distinguished professor in chemistry and biochemistry, received the Royal Society of Chemistry’s 2018 Centenary Prize for his research on energy harnessing and storage, according to a university press release Monday. Other unions representing UC workers plan to join AFSCME in solidarity strike

Unions representing medical employees in the University of California plan to hold a strike in solidarity with the UC’s largest union this week. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299, which represents service workers such as custodians and food service workers, is holding a strike from Monday to Wednesday because the union was unable to reach a contract agreement with the UC.
