Hacker sells access to databases at UCLA, other universities
A Russian-speaking hacker sold unauthorized access to databases for more than 60 universities and government agencies in the United States and United Kingdom, including UCLA. The hacker, called Rasputin, sold SQL injections which allow a hacker to access all the contents of an internet database, rather than only parts of it, for various databases according to a statement by Recorded Future, a technology company that specializes in real-time threat intelligence. USAC resolution encourages UC to reform sexual assault review process
Students are encouraging the university to adopt a more democratic review process for sexual assault cases. The undergraduate student government passed a resolution last Tuesday that recommends the University of California Office of the President make its peer review committee, which intervenes if the university fails to respond adequately to allegations, more diverse. Project Concern International holds fast to raise awareness for global hunger
A group of students fasted in solidarity with hungry peoples around the world at an event on the Hill on Sunday. The event “Go Hungry for the Hungry” was co-sponsored by the UCLA branch of Project Concern International and UCLA Residential Life. Read more...

TA shortage requires graduate students to teach outside departments
Some graduate students teach undergraduate courses outside of their departments because of a shortage in teaching assistants. There has been a teaching assistant shortage in divisions like life sciences and physical sciences because the undergraduate student population has increased faster than the graduate student population over the past few years, said Victoria Sork, dean of the life sciences division. A new loading dock for campus deliveries opened underneath the engineering building Feb. 13. Associated Students UCLA moved its loading dock location because the expansion of the engineering building blocked off the road to the original dock’s driveway. Read more...
