Chancellor Gene Block discusses intolerant speech, freshman admission

Chancellor Gene Block meets with members of the Daily Bruin Editorial Board every quarter to discuss issues affecting campus and explain administrative policies and decisions. At the meeting Monday, Block, who was joined by Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Janina Montero, Dean of Students Maria Blandizzi and Associate Vice Chancellor of University Communications and Marketing Kathryn Kranhold, spoke about the university’s response to leaked Pi Kappa Phi meeting minutes, free speech on campus and concerns about standards for admission of out-of-state students. Towel service to fold at Wooden Center in fall 2016

The Wooden Center will stop providing towels to gym patrons in the fall to reduce water consumption on campus. Rich Mylin, director of recreation sports venues and event operations, said students, faculty and staff will have to bring their own towels, but the Wooden Center will also provide towels for purchase. Professor named interim vice chancellor of Academic Personnel Office

UCLA officials appointed a professor as interim vice chancellor for the UCLA Academic Personnel Office last week. Michael Levine, a professor of psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine, will replace Carole Goldberg on July 1. Read more...
