UCLA Centennial Campaign to fund life sciences innovation projects

The UCLA life sciences division announced Wednesday it will fund three research projects using money raised through the Centennial Campaign. Two student winners will each receive $10,000 and one faculty winner will receive $75,000 to pursue research ideas that have the potential to lead to scientific discoveries in the life sciences, according to an email sent to the department. Man arrested for attempted assault with chair in Ackerman Union

University police arrested a man Saturday who allegedly tried to assault someone Thursday with a metal chair in Ackerman Union. The man, 45, was arrested in Ackerman Union Saturday on one charge of assault with a deadly weapon, one charge of threatening with intent to terrorize and one charge of violating civil rights by causing violent injury, according to police logs.
