The UCLA life sciences division announced Wednesday it will fund three research projects using money raised through the Centennial Campaign. Two student winners will each receive $10,000 and one faculty winner will receive $75,000 to pursue research ideas that have the potential to lead to scientific discoveries in the life sciences, according to an email sent to the department. University police arrested a man Saturday who allegedly tried to assault someone Thursday with a metal chair in Ackerman Union. The man, 45, was arrested in Ackerman Union Saturday on one charge of assault with a deadly weapon, one charge of threatening with intent to terrorize and one charge of violating civil rights by causing violent injury, according to police logs.
