Crime on the Los Angeles Metro system dropped about 17% from 2015 to 2019. Metro released crime figures for its bus and rail systems Friday. It found that in the LA system, serious crimes such as robbery and assault fell nearly 23%, while less serious crimes fell about 11%, according to a Metro press release. Read more...

University police are searching for a man who allegedly sexually battered a student inside The Study at Hedrick on Tuesday night. A man allegedly walked up behind a UCLA student while she was standing inside The Study café area and grabbed her buttocks at around 7:30 p.m., according to a UCPD crime alert released Wednesday. Former UCLA obstetrician-gynecologist James Heaps’ treatment of a patient constituted sexual assault and harassment, according to a Title IX report made public Thursday. A patient of Heaps filed the original Title IX complaint in December 2017, accusing Heaps of inappropriately touching her breast during a visit to his UCLA office to remove her intrauterine device, or IUD.
