Two men were charged with vandalism Wednesday for damaging the Bruin Bear statue in November. Louie Torres, 19, and Willie Johnson, 18, were charged with causing more than $10,000 in damages after allegedly painting the statue with red and yellow paint, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office. UCOP releases report with recommendations for improving UCPD practices
The University of California Office of the President released a universitywide report in November to standardize policing terminology and practices across the UC. The report contained 26 recommendations for police practices across the UC system, many of which focused on the system for processing complaints, introducing new training and updating protocols regarding the use of force.
