Proposition 4 offers $10 billion in bonds for fire, water, land protections

This post was updated Nov. 4 at 12:11 a.m. California voters will vote on a bond dedicated to fighting climate change this November. Proposition 4 would authorize the state to fund $10 billion in bonds for “water, wildfire prevention, and protection of communities and land.” According to the California Department of General Services, a general obligation bond is a form of long-term borrowing that the state promises to pay back with interest. Backpack fire in Boelter Hall causes evacuations, no injuries reported

A backpack caught on fire in a Boelter Hall classroom Wednesday, causing hundreds of students throughout the building to evacuate.  Around 12:30 p.m., a backpack began to catch fire in Boelter Hall room 5249, where a bioengineering class was taking place, said Jeeth Pawar, a third-year bioengineering student in the class.
