Metro on road to better bus system, utilizing community input in redesign plan

NWWNC proposes removal of dividers on nontransit benches
A local neighborhood council may call for the removal of nontransit bench dividers in Westwood Village, following a transportation and safety committee vote Jan. 14. The committee, which is a part of the North Westwood Neighborhood Council, recommended the Westwood Village Improvement Association, Westwood’s business improvement district, remove the dividers. Commission approves synthetic turf field at Westwood Park after months of debate
The Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks commissioners unanimously approved a plan Thursday for a new synthetic turf field in Westwood Park. Tommy’s Field, named after Tommy Mark, a local youth soccer player who died in 2018, will replace the open grass area in the park without removing any adjacent tennis courts. Read more...

Los Angeles Women’s March draws thousands together in support of women’s rights
For the fourth time, thousands of Angelenos marched through Downtown on Saturday to show their support for women’s rights. In addition to the usual signs, ranging from jokes to swears to female empowerment slogans, the favored promotional materials of many marchers touted their 2020 Democratic presidential picks. LA Metro evaluated 4 concepts for transit link between San Fernando Valley, Westside
The Los Angeles Metro approved five teams to compete for a bid to develop a transit project connecting the San Fernando Valley with the Westside. Metro introduced the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project in 2018 and expects to complete the first phase of the project between 2033 and 2035. Read more...
