UCLA study finds impact of culturally divisive conflict on American public schools

A recent UCLA study found that cultural and political conflict is costing American public schools more than just time. American school districts have spent roughly $3.2 billion toward resolving tensions over how political issues are taught in educational spaces in the 2023-2024 school year, according to the study. BruinsVote election watch party brings politically interested students together

As election results trickled in Nov. 5, UCLA students gathered to watch in Pauley Pavillion. Westwood therapy team helps students take post-election stress down a few octaves

A mental health street team helped students handle Election Day stress outside Ackerman Union on Nov. 5. Octave, a mental health service with a clinic based in Westwood, organized outreach teams outside UCLA voting centers at both Ackerman Union and the Hammer Museum on Election Day, providing resources such as breathing exercises and access to therapy to help students manage their political stress. Trump chooses UCLA alumnus William McGinley as White House counsel

President-elect Donald Trump appointed William McGinley – a UCLA alumnus – as his White House counsel. McGinley, who graduated from UCLA with a history degree in 1992, has also held the role of White House Cabinet secretary in Trump’s first administration and general counsel to the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
