UCLA researchers streamline skin tissue analysis with virtual staining technique

UCLA researchers have developed a virtual, non-invasive method of visualizing skin tissue that could transform how skin diseases are diagnosed. In a Nov. 18 study, UCLA researchers described how artificial intelligence could be used to transform a black-and-white image of the skin obtained by a non-invasive microscope into a colorized, highly-detailed image, similar to one obtained through a biopsy. UCLA updates masking guidelines, isolation protocols on campus

Study finds that zooming through recorded videos does not reduce comprehension

A recent UCLA study found no significant costs to watching online lecture videos at faster speeds. According to the study published Nov. 14, there was no difference in learning comprehension between watching a lecture video at 1x, 1.5x or 2x speed, a topic the researchers sought to investigate as the pandemic moved classrooms online. LA City Council lifts mandatory vaccination status checks for malls, shopping centers
