Neighborhood empowerment department approves vote for new Village council

City officials have approved an election for students and Westwood community members to create a new neighborhood council. Westwood Forward, a coalition of students and Westwood community members, submitted an application to subdivide the Westwood Neighborhood Council in December because they felt the current council did not adequately represent students or address their concerns. Westwood Neighborhood Council recap – March 14

The Westwood Neighborhood Council meets monthly to discuss issues pertaining to Westwood Village and the surrounding areas. Comments by public officials Jasmine Shamolian, a field representative for Councilmember Paul Koretz, said the Los Angeles Planning and Land Use Management Committee will soon vote to cap short-term rentals in Los Angeles at 180 days. City board to decide on Westwood Forward’s subdivision election proposal

UCLA students and Westwood community members are one step closer to voting on the creation of a new neighborhood council. The Board of Neighborhood Commissioners, which oversees neighborhood councils in Los Angeles, held a special town hall meeting Tuesday to take public comment about Westwood Forward’s proposal to separate UCLA and Westwood Village from the Westwood Neighborhood Council. Village advocacy organization votes to support Westwood Forward

The Westwood Village Improvement Association voted to support Westwood Forward at a meeting Thursday. Westwood Forward, a coalition of business owners, students, renters and homeowners, is advocating to separate UCLA, Westwood Village and North Village from the current Westwood Neighborhood Council. Westwood attempts to address homelessness via nonprofits, lacks location

Westwood community leaders are attempting to address homelessness locally amid countywide efforts to alleviate Los Angeles’ homelessness crisis. Landfair, Strathmore intersection closed off due to water main leak

The intersection of Landfair Avenue and Strathmore Drive has been blocked off following a water main leak in the area. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power received a report of a water main leak at noon, said LADWP spokesperson Sylvia Beltran. Read more...

Westwood group sues, files petition against proposed UCLA housing project

A Westwood group is suing the University of California and UCLA over a proposed student-housing project in Westwood Village. The Westwood History and Architecture Association and Steve Sann, chair of the Westwood Community Council, filed a petition Wednesday ordering UCLA to halt a building project at the UCLA Extension site building on Le Conte Avenue.
