Westwood Neighborhood Council recap – April 12
The Westwood Neighborhood Council meets monthly to discuss issues pertaining to Westwood Village and the surrounding areas. Comments by public officials Niki Svara, operations manager of the Westwood Village Improvement Association, said the association is working on sidewalk reconstruction on Westwood Boulevard down to Weyburn Avenue and fixed some electrical problems with tree lighting in Westwood Village. Officials combat illegal furniture dumping in Village with workshops
Discarded mattresses and aged couches often line North Village sidewalks, waiting for garbage trucks to pick them up. Students who regularly move or are unaware of rules banning street dumping often leave out old furniture instead of properly getting rid of their bulky items. Read more...

Proposed state bill could extend alcohol sales hours
