UCLA commuters take advantage of alternate forms of transportation

UCLA’s commuting population is opting to carpool, bike or walk to campus at increasing rates, according to a new university study. Only 51 percent of UCLA commuting employees drive by themselves to campus, a 2 percent drop from last year and an almost 10 percent drop from a decade ago, said Renée Fortier, the executive director of UCLA Events and Transportation. Plan for Westwood Business Improvement District renewed

The Westwood Business Improvement District, a non-profit organization tasked with improving the state of Westwood Village, was renewed last month for another three-year term. Property owners who pay fees to support the organization voted last month for the renewal, approving it by more than 75 percent, said Andrew Thomas, executive director of the BID. Read more...
