Submission: Participants of Undie Run incident at fault for selfish behavior
No one wants to see their own police department make headlines. Stories of inappropriate and uncalled-for police behavior are too common and strain community-police relations. When I heard about the University of California Police Department using pepper spray balls after the Undie Run ended on March 20, my fears drifted to thoughts of police excess. Read more...

Submission: Hate speech after divestment resolution only furthers divide
Last week, a member of Students for Justice in Palestine published an op-ed in the Daily Bruin titled “Daily Bruin should have disclosed authors’ link to Hasbara.” This frivolous attempt to taint our image, undermine our integrity and portray us as incapable of forming our own opinions is just one example of the radical and hurtful accusations that have been made about members of the Bruin community after the Undergraduate Students Association Council rejected a resolution to divest from five companies. Submission: Daily Bruin should have disclosed authors’ link to Hasbara
On Feb. 25, the Daily Bruin published an op-ed entitled “Divestment promotes anti-Israeli movement,” written by Avinoam Baral, Tammy Rubin and Miriam Eshaghian. Although I personally do not agree with the political viewpoints endorsed by the authors, I find it more problematic that the three are participants in the Hasbara Fellowships program, and that the Daily Bruin failed to publicly disclose this information to its readership.
