Yiwei Sun: Approving sales tax increase would help alleviate 405 traffic
A small increase in sales tax might soon save commuter students a large amount of time coming to class. A bill that Gov. Jerry Brown signed Wednesday will allow Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials to seek a sales tax increase in 2016 that could raise as much as $120 billion for local roads, freeways and mass transit. Arthur Wang: UCLA’s lack of cultural sensitivity led to ‘Kanye Western’ themed raid
Black students at UCLA were greeted with several True Bruin Welcomes last week, and some were truer than others. Congratulation and condemnation coalesced last week when the Black Bruin Welcome Week collided with Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Phi’s “Kanye Western” party, which treated black culture as accessory and reminded black students that some members of the campus community are more interested in black cultural practices than their unique experiences.
