UCLA alumnus unveils learning center as gift to former school

Baron Davis glanced out onto the playground from the window of Room 51 at South Park Elementary in Florence-Graham, Calif. About 25 years ago, as a young boy in the Los Angeles Unified School District, he stood in that same spot, looking out onto the basketball courts that he would practice on for hours each day, with hopes of one day being a professional basketball player. Consecutive championships become goal for UCLA women’s soccer

Jan. 25, 2014 – that was the day the challenge was issued. “One in nine” was the phrase former Bruin goalkeeper Alana Munger used in her farewell speech at the UCLA women’s soccer team banquet to describe the team now that it was in the company of eight other programs that have won a national championship since women’s soccer became a Division I sport in 1982.
