Senior Zakiya Bywaters of UCLA women’s soccer has experienced a career renaissance of sorts since moving to the forward position on the team. The position change allowed her to become a prime goal-scorer. Bywaters has scored 15 goals over this season, which has earned her an honor as a Pac-12 Player of the Year and a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist.




UCLA swim and dive perform well at Long Beach, Houston invites

Over the course of this weekend's three-day Arena Invitational, the UCLA swim team mastered the art of moving forward. According to coach Cyndi Gallagher, the key to doing well in these long meets is to take each event as it comes. "You just have to swim one race and let it go, then swim another race and let it go," Gallagher said.
The Bruins did just that, a strategy that helped them earn a score of 850 and a fourth-place finish. "It's a lot of emotional energy; this (goes) on and on and on," Gallagher said. Read more...

Senior utility Josh Samuels added a goal for the No. 2 Bruins, who defeated UC Irvine 16-8 at Spieker Aquatics Center on Senior Day. UCLA will compete against Pacific on Friday to open MPSF tournament play.
