The UCLA Student Transfer Opportunity and Mentor Program, or STOMP, put on its 14th annual STOMP conference on April 26th of this year. The conference has grown from a few attendees to over a thousand, becoming a central program for community college students considering transferring into a UC. From 0600 to 1920, cadets of Bruin Batallion march up and down hilly terrain in Camp Pendleton for their spring field training exercise. Third-year military science III cadets are placed and evaluated in leadership positions before they head off to a monthlong Leader Development and Assessment Course that will determine the their placement in the military. In a garage-turned-boxing gym in Pico Union, head USC boxing coach Ramon Espada has been training both UCLA and USC student in the same gym. Despite the rivalry between schools, Bruins and Trojans in this gym trained together and saw each other as teammates. More »
Pulling out garbage bags of fresh bananas and cartons of unexpired eggs from a dumpster, students forage for food with friends. In particular, fourth-year political science student, Joanna Wheaton, spends her Friday nights dumpster diving to eliminate local food waste within her community. More »
