Rocket Fizz candy shop opens karaoke lounge in party room

Westwood residents can sing at a new karaoke lounge in Rocket Fizz, a candy shop on Broxton Avenue. The karaoke lounge is the newest addition to the candy store’s Rocket Room, a private party room on the store’s second floor. Read more...

Groups continue protests against history professor Gabriel Piterberg

Students with several campus groups continued their protests against a professor accused of sexual harassment Wednesday. Bruin Consent Coalition, United Auto Workers Local 2865 and Bruins Against Sexual Harassment members held up signs in the hallway outside the classroom in Broad Art Center where Gabriel Piterberg, a history professor, was lecturing. UCLA skilled trade workers end five-day strike protesting wages

Hundreds of workers waved plastic-wrapped signs that read “UC unfair! Strike!” in the air, undeterred by the rain. Members of Teamsters Local 2010 marched on campus and throughout Westwood several times Tuesday as part of their push for higher wage increases. Read more...

Gov. Jerry Brown proposes UC budget increase, financial aid changes

Gov. Jerry Brown proposed giving the University of California an additional $146 million in his 2017-18 budget proposal released Tuesday morning. Brown proposed increasing the UC system’s general fund by $131 million, based on a 2014 agreement between the UC system and the governor, said UC spokesperson Claire Doan. Read more...

Former ADPi house mother starts a new chapter after 25-year stint
