UCLA Blood and Platelet Center hopes to draw more donations

Officials at the UCLA Blood and Platelet Center have seen fewer donations than usual this quarter. There were 24 fewer donors at the center’s Ackerman location in the first week of winter quarter compared to this time last year, said Faye Cortez, community liaison for the center. Read more...

Task force addresses colleges’ sexual assault policies

President Barack Obama announced a new task force Wednesday to help combat the issue of sexual assault and rape on college campuses. The advisory task force, which will be headed by the Office of the Vice President and the White House Council on Women and Girls, will recommend policy changes in the next 90 days to improve enforcement of federal laws concerning sexual assault and rape at universities and other higher education institutions, according to a presidential memorandum.
