UCLA report reveals discrimination against AAPI communities in California laws

A recent policy report co-authored by UCLA researchers revealed that systemic discrimination against Asian American and Pacific Islander communities persists in California state laws. UCLA received a $1.4 million grant in 2021 to conduct research investigating the current state of AAPI communities and their struggles, said Hiroshi Motomura, co-author of the report and a faculty co-director of the Center for Immigration Law and Policy at the UCLA School of Law. UCLA researchers uncover link between volunteering and decreased biological age

Researchers at UCLA and the University of British Columbia have found that volunteering over 100 hours per year is associated with reduced biological age. Two people with the same chronological age can have different biological ages, which is a measure of how old your cells and tissues appear, according to Verywell Health. Read more...

Bruins rally for Iranian women in International Women’s Day march

Dozens of Bruins and protesters gathered in front of Royce Hall on Wednesday to denounce discrimination against women and political oppression in Iran. The event – organized by the Iranian Student Group at UCLA, Iranian Scholars for Liberty and Persian fraternity Sigma Pi Beta – was organized to amplify Iranian women’s voices and bring international attention to their repression, said Paria, a fourth-year cognitive science major and president of ISG, who requested to remain anonymous for safety reasons.
