California voters, tired of living with a budget deficit, overwhelmingly passed Propositions 57 and 58 in Tuesday’s elections while rejecting another budget measure, Proposition 56. Propositions 57 and 58 allow the state to issue $15 billion in bonds to pay off the current budget deficit. Read more...

Bunche’s life put in the spotlight

Young Research Library Exhibits Committee launched in February the online portion of a two-part exhibit showcasing the life and accomplishments of a man many have called the “most distinguished UCLA alumnus.” While viewing the exhibit, students, faculty, and staff can learn about Ralph Bunche, who graduated from UCLA in 1927 as valedictorian and went on to become the first black person to earn a doctorate in political science from Harvard University.
