UC dual admission program to grant applicants deferred transfer acceptance

University of California campuses launched a dual admission pilot program to allow high school graduates deferred transfer acceptance into a participating UC. The three-year dual admission pilot program will provide students the opportunity to enroll in a community college while having a guaranteed transfer acceptance to a UC or California State University, according to UC Newsroom. USAC calls for resignation of LA city council members caught on racist recording

The Undergraduate Students Association Council passed a resolution Oct. 18 calling on multiple Los Angeles city council members to resign. Council president Nury Martinez and councilmembers Kevin de León and Gil Cedillo made racist and homophobic remarks about other council members, LA District Attorney George Gascón and the child of a council member in a leaked recording, according to the LA Times. UCLA launches initiative to study hate with help of $3M donation

UCLA has launched a new three-year initiative to understand how hate manifests, whom it harms and how to minimize its effects. An anonymous donation of $3 million will help fund 23 upcoming projects in which researchers will examine racial discrimination, political extremism, and the influence of artificial intelligence on bias, among other hate-related topics.
