Sunday was a day of poetry, music, theater and dance, as the Pakistani Student Association of UCLA presented its fourth annual culture show. The show, held for the first time at Royce Hall, was titled “Yahaan se Pechaan,” which translated from Urdu as “From here to Identity.” This theme of a dual identity was maintained throughout the show, with several of the dances, skits and poetry readings presenting a blend of traditional Pakistani and contemporary American cultures. Beauty parlor may open in Ackerman
UCLA students might find another reason to visit Ackerman Student Union more often: a potential beauty parlor complete with massages. Ackerman might soon be home to a beauty salon as the Associated Students of UCLA Board of Directors approved a proposal to lease space to a center offering manicures, pedicures, and massages. Guatemalan twins return to UCLA, conditions remain uncertain
Formerly conjoined twins Maria de Jesus and Maria Teresa Quiej-Alvarez were flown back to UCLA on Thursday after suffering medical setbacks in Guatemala. The twins, who were once joined at the head, were taken to the Mattel Children’s Hospital, where they had been cared for after separation surgery in August 2002. Read more...
