Society provides forum for debate

Students with enhanced interest in foreign affairs finally have an outlet for discussion in the newly formed Undergraduate International Relations Society. Community reacts to possible hate crime

An apparent hate crime committed last week at the UCLA Medical Center did not go unanswered by the surrounding community. Animal rights activists protest against UCLA researchers

Protesters targeted six UCLA scientists, who conduct research on primates and other animals, in this week’s events organized by the UCLA Students for Animal Liberation. The demonstrations, which were part of the annual World Week for Animals in Laboratories, included protests on campus as well as at the homes of the animal researchers. Read more...


Latest budget proposal rejected

Assembly speaker Herb Wesson proposed $179 million in higher education cuts Wednesday as part of a proposal to compromise with Republicans over the state budget. Wesson’s proposal of cuts and borrowing would have decreased the state’s deficit to somewhere between $8 and $13 billion, but it was rejected on the same day by Republican leaders. Read more...
