California heat waves break records, set dangerous precedent

California has experienced a series of heat waves this summer, with record-breaking temperatures causing dangerous levels of heat exposure. Heat waves kill more Americans than all other weather-related disasters, with more than 600 people dying every year in the United States because of extreme heat, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. UC Board of Regents approves new systemwide multiyear tuition plan

This post was updated July 25 at 7:48 p.m. The University of California Board of Regents approved a systemwide multiyear plan that increases tuition and student fees to the incoming class of undergraduate students and all graduate students starting fall 2022.  Under the new plan, tuition costs and fees can see yearly adjustments tied to inflation for the incoming class of undergraduate students. Former interim dean Susan Ettner to serve as UCLA dean of graduate education

Susan Ettner, a UCLA professor and former interim dean, began her term as the dean of graduate education July 1. Ettner is a general internal medicine and health services professor at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and a health policy and management professor at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
