New ELTS department seeks to provide holistic approach in first full academic year

UCLA has retained its dedication to European language studies in creating the Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies, which has been official since spring 2021 and will begin its first full academic year as a fully operational department in fall 2021. Read more...

Photo: In Spring 2021, UCLA merged the departments of French and Francophone studies, Germanic languages, Scandinavian and Italian to create the Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies. The new ELTS department, situated in Royce Hall, will embark on its first full academic year in operation in fall 2021, offering new majors and minors to students.

California to require COVID-19 vaccination or negative test at large indoor events

California will require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for attendees of large indoor events beginning next month. Beginning Sept. 20, all individuals who attend indoor events with more than 1,000 attendees must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test, according to new guidance from the California Department of Public Health.
