Far Out Presents receives funding from NWWNC to put on local music festival

The local neighborhood council granted nearly $5,000 on Wednesday to an alumnus’ annual nonprofit music festival in Westwood Village, about $1,000 less than last year. Far Out Fest, previously known as Westwoodstock, will showcase local, emerging artists May 2. Read more...

Grupo Folklórico de UCLA grows family through teaching traditional Mexican dances

Students walking by Pauley Pavilion after sundown can often see dancers tapping and swinging their feet to the rhythm of Mexican folk music. For the dancers, members of Grupo Folklórico de UCLA, the activity is a way to promote Mexican culture and teach traditional dance styles to fellow UCLA students while building a community through the group. UCLA sees drop in freshman, but increase in transfer applications

UCLA saw a drop in freshman applicants for the second year in a row, according to University of California data released Tuesday. Freshman applications for fall 2020 dropped 2.2%, from 111,266 to 108,837, following a 2.1% decrease for fall 2019. Read more...

UCLA School of Law to open immigration law center with $5 million alumna donation

UCLA established a new immigration law center Wednesday with a $5 million alumna donation. The UCLA School of Law launched the Center for Immigration Law and Policy with a pledge from Alicia Miñana, a School of Law alumna, and her husband Rob Lovelace, according to a university press release.
