UC approves tuition decrease for first time in nearly two decades
The University of California Board of Regents voted to decrease tuition for in-state students for the first time in almost 20 years. The regents confirmed an $8.7 billion spending plan for the 2018-2019 school year Wednesday, including a $60 student fee decrease. Read more...

UCLA Extension partnership creates educational program for underserved community
Some adults said they want to continue their education because they want to successfully showcase why their skills and experience are useful to potential employers. UCLA Extension, an institution affiliated with UCLA that offers career and educational programs, partnered with PUENTE Learning Center, an organization that offers educational programs to adults and children in Los Angeles’ Boyle Heights neighborhood, to launch Success Academy. Researchers discover correlation between BPA exposure, reproductive dysfunction
UCLA researchers discovered that exposure to some chemicals may cause reproductive defects in future generations of humans. In a study published in May, the researchers in the laboratory of Patrick Allard, an assistant professor in the UCLA Institute for Society and Genetics, demonstrated that bisphenol A, a chemical used to strengthen many plastics, caused fertility defects in worms that could still be observed five generations after the parent worms were exposed to BPA.
