UCLA is requiring faculty, student workers and staff to enroll in a security enhancement for their login to UCLA internet applications by Oct. 31. All campus faculty, staff and student workers will be required to use multifactor authentication when signing into UCLA applications, said Andrew Wissmiller, associate vice chancellor of information technology services, in a staffwide email last week. UCLA now has several mobile applications to better reach students and faculty in the event of an emergency. Michael Beck, administrative vice chancellor, said in an email statement Monday students and faculty can download the Bruins Safe mobile app so they can better prepare themselves for emergency situations. UCLA researchers have found a potential treatment that will prevent the growth of tumors found in a common and aggressive form of brain cancer. In a study published Monday, researchers found a certain drug treatment prevented a glioblastoma tumor from growing by cutting off the nutrient supply for tumor cells and promoting their death.
