UCLA neurosurgeons utilize virtual reality in treating patients

Pediatric neurosurgeon Aria Fallah donned virtual reality goggles and exchanged his surgical tools for two remotes to practice a brain surgery. Fallah carefully maneuvered around bundles of neon green brain matter and bright red blood vessels in a three-dimensional scan to reach his target: a tumor nestled deep in the brain. Read more...

City of Los Angeles reviews divestment of funds from Wells Fargo

The city of Los Angeles is reviewing a motion to terminate its investment in Wells Fargo bank. Councilmembers Paul Koretz, who represents Westwood and other communities in Los Angeles District 5, and Mitch O’Farrell presented the motion to divest from Wells Fargo in March because the bank financially supports the Dakota Access Pipeline and was found responsible for account fraud. 2017 Graduate Students Association platforms

This year’s Graduate Students Association elections will have four uncontested candidates running with the Moving Forward slate. Elections will take place from April 11-18. Graduate students can vote on MyUCLA, and results will be announced at the April 19 GSA forum meeting. Read more...

NASA leader visits UCLA to share findings of Kepler mission

The UCLA community learned about the possibility of life among 100 billion planets from a NASA mission leader Wednesday evening. Contract with union results in wage increase for skilled trades workers

UCLA and the union for campus skilled trades workers ratified a new five-year contract, university officials announced Thursday afternoon. The 600 skilled trades workers will receive a 12.5-percent wage increase and 3-percent annual increases starting July 1. Read more...
