University of California to partner with Mexico on energy efficiency research

Researchers from the University of California and Mexican universities will now have access to millions of dollars to collaborate on energy efficiency research projects. In Mexico City on Thursday, UC President Janet Napolitano joined Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, the Mexican Secretary of Energy, to announce a request for proposals that would award up to $10 million to support energy efficiency research. UC, workers union reach tentative agreement on clerical employee contract

The University of California and a union representing UC workers announced a tentative agreement on a contract Thursday after almost a year of negotiations. The bargaining team and executive board for Teamsters Local 2010, which represents about 12,000 UC administrative and clerical workers, unanimously recommended adopting the contract, which includes terms for wage increases, health care and retirement benefits. Samueli Foundation donates $20 million to UCLA’s engineering school

The Samueli Foundation donated $20 million to UCLA’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science on Thursday. The gift will support up to 50 first-year undergraduates in annual scholarships and research or industry internships. Read more...
