New taco restaurant brings authentic Mexican food to Westwood

A Tijuana-inspired taco franchise launched its second Los Angeles storefront in Westwood with a free taco promotion Friday evening. Victor Delgado and Jorge Alvarez-Tostado, the owners of Tacos 1986, created the franchise back in 2018 as a taco stand traveling around Los Angeles, making stops in Venice, Smorgasburg and Koreatown. Far Out Presents receives funding from NWWNC to put on local music festival

The local neighborhood council granted nearly $5,000 on Wednesday to an alumnus’ annual nonprofit music festival in Westwood Village, about $1,000 less than last year. Far Out Fest, previously known as Westwoodstock, will showcase local, emerging artists May 2. Read more...

Westwood boba competition climbs with new boba shop arrivals

The recent arrival of new boba shops in Westwood Village has given students more options to get their boba fix. The Village has seen the opening of two boba places in the past two months: Ichi, which replaced its fellow boba shop, CoCo Fresh Tea and Juice on Le Conte Avenue, and Sharetea at UCLA on Broxton Avenue. Tree falls on sidewalk near Gayley Avenue and Landfair Avenue

A tree fell near the intersection of Gayley Avenue and Landfair Avenue on Tuesday night, blocking pedestrians.  The tree blocked a city crosswalk just off campus in North Village. Read more...

Wheels rolls out new electric bike model with attached helmet

Electric bike company Wheels showcased a new bike model with an integrated helmet during a North Westwood Neighborhood Council committee meeting Jan. 14. The transportation and safety committee of the NWWNC, which represents Westwood and UCLA to the Los Angeles City Council, met with Wheels representatives to discuss the new model. Read more...
